Hospital Bag Essentials

With my due date creeping up on me quickly, I thought it was about time to speak about what to pack in your hospital bag. Now since I can only go off what I've researched online I thought I'd reach out once again to my squad of new mums & find out what their top 5+ hospital bag essentials were... these aren't all the standard must haves, but any extra things they thought were worth taking !!


Sophie

  1. Sponge or flannel - keep fresh during labour
  2. Phone charger
  3. Nice soft towel - theres nothing like your own towel when your exhausted & the hospital ones don't always cut it !!
  4. Layers- most wards and centres are too hot, to take options to keep you cool. Lightweight joggers and feeding vests
  5. Your birth partner - might sound stupid but they're the most important thing!
  6. Carseat - you won't be allowed to take baby home without one if your driving

India

  1. Grohush- helps soothe newborns in busy hospital wards
  2. Grosnug sleeping bag
  3. Andrex wipes & face wipes to freshen up
  4. Large reusable water bottle
  5. iPod
  6. Towel, pillow & blanket from home
  7. Slippers
  8. Snacks

Katie

  1. Nipple cream
  2. Flipflops 
  3. Drinks - stay hydrated!!
  4. Camera- to capture those first moments
  5. Big t-shirt nighty

Jen

  1. Flipflops
  2. Nipple cream
  3. Lucazade
  4. Pillow from home
  5. Cotton dressing gown

Abbie

  1. Bendy straw - makes everything easier to drink
  2. Concentrated squash - for when you get bored of drinking water by the gallon
  3. Own pillow
  4. Snacks for after birth
  5. Minimal bags- get a big enough bag to fit everything, you down want to be searching hundreds of smaller bags. Take the baby changing bag for baby and one for you stuff

Milly

  1. Nappies!!
  2. Baby clothes, make sure you have a hat
  3. Sanitary towels
  4. Comfiest clothes you can find to come home in
  5. Toothbrush and toothpaste

Natalie

  1. Maternity notes
  2. Birth plan
  3. Change of clothes, underwear & loose fitting t-shirt
  4. Baby grows
  5. Snacks
