The Vaccination Debate

Well here goes, I'm breaking the unspoken rule of talking about the V word. It's such a sensitive topic as it personally effects lots of families on both sides of the argument. So I'm aware not everything I write is going to sit well with everybody but hey ho, such is life, so here goes.

Firstly, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. My husband and I spent hours researching into the pros & cons of certain vaccinations. Not only do you have to search far & wide, but check the source of the information you are trusting. It’s no good if it’s from some unheard of online forum, chances are it’s made up. Also, doing something because a friends friend said something in a passing conversation one day is also questionable. Always look up information you’ve heard and cross check it with a reliable source.

Secondly, once you’ve made a decision, either way, don’t allow others to bully or persuade you to change your mind. The thing I’ve noticed about this topic is people are very passionate on both ends and will try talk you into changing your mind, so stick to your guns and if you don’t wish to talk about your views, then don’t. That’s OK too

Thirdly, just because your the UK has a strict vaccine timetable don’t feel rushed into anything. Your allowed to take your time to make any decision concerning your child

Fourthly, I don’t believe there’s a right or wrong decision. Everyone makes the decision they believe is right for their child. Your no better or worse a parent which ever way you choose. There’s so much information out there , which can be a blessing and a curse so filter it wisely and trust your gut. Don’t let anyone tell your what’s right for your child - make an educated decision and be aware of the consequences either way.
